We will miss you Bala  / Venky Venkatesh (Friend)
Bala has always been an inspiration to me. He was always the best in whatever he did, in constant persuit of excellence. He was a top student, a real go-getter and more importantly a great friend.

During his PhD, Bala took up Bharatanatyam lessons and suddenly performed the dance with such grace and perfection that he enthralled the pundits in some stellar performances in many locations.

When tragedy struck his family a couple of years ago when his mother and himself were fighting the deadly cancer, Bala held his chin up and guided his family through the stormy weather.

What really makes me a believer in Bala's spirit is the commitment he displayed in achieving his PhD after being affected by the deadly cancer disease. In spite of several physical handicaps, Bala flew to the US, worked hard in finishing his dissereation, defended successfully to a panel of world renowned professors and earned his phD. 

We meet so many people during the course of our lives, but we need to be really fortunate to know someone as inspirational and wonderful as Bala. I will miss him dearly.
